EXPLAINING The TERMS "Bear and Bull Markets".

Bear markets are those with falling stock prices. The term bear market is thought to come from the way a bear attacks by swiping its paws down on its prey. In a similar way, the Bull market parallels the way the bull attacks by thrusting its horns up into the air.
